WIDNES WATERFRONT STEPS FORWARD

The latest phase in the regeneration of the Widnes Waterfront has been reached on schedule.

Forward Partnership celebrated completing the external construction of its £2.4million Forward Point development by inviting North West Member of the European Parliament, Arlene McCarthy, to tour the site.

The scheme, which has been part-funded with £596,000 from the European Union, is creating 16,500 sq ft of modern, flexible office space across three new glass and brick-clad buildings.

Arlene McCarthy MEP, said: “It’s fantastic to see European funding in action in Widnes. Forward Point will play a key role in the regeneration of the area by delivering the kind of high quality commercial space vital to attracting businesses and creating new jobs.”

Work has now begun on the internal fit-out of the three buildings which boast panoramic views of the Mersey Estuary.

Forward Partnership’s Chris Wright, said: “With a strategic location at a key access point to the Widnes Waterfront, Forward Point will provide flexible office space to suit 21st century businesses. We’re experiencing strong interest in the units and are on target for completion in October.”

Situated at the junction of Tan House Lane and Moss Bank, Forward Point will help facilitate the regeneration of South Widnes and create up to 100 new jobs.

The 200-acre Widnes Waterfront master plan site on the banks of the River Mersey at Widnes, has been transformed in recent years thanks to funding from the European Union’s Objective 2 programme and the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA).

FORWARD THINKING PRAISED BY LOCAL MP

Forward Partnership has reached a construction milestone at its £2.4 million Forward Point development.

The property group has celebrated the completion of the steelworks on site by inviting local Halton MP Derek Twigg to visit the office development scheme - which is on target to reach completion in October.

Derek said [example quote]: “Forward Point is part of a bigger picture of success and progress which you can draw around the entire Widnes Waterfront regeneration zone.

“The scheme makes the most of a key gateway site and will complement the wider vision for the area which will be a great place to do business once completed. The development has been designed to attract growth sector businesses which in turn will create job opportunities for the local community.”

The steel frames weighed 85 tones and took three workers to install over a period of three weeks. The flooring and cladding will now follow. When completed, the 1535 sq m of much needed new office space will be spread across three modern, flexible office buildings with glass façades.

Situated at the junction of Tan House Lane and Moss Bank, Forward Point is positioned at one of the key access points to Widnes Waterfront.

The Forward Point site, part of the Widnes Waterfront programme, is benefiting from £596,000 of European Regional Development funding to help facilitate the regeneration of the area and create up to 100 new jobs.

Forward Point is a key site within the Economic Development Zone (EDZ). The EDZ will see the transformation of more than 200 acres including former chemical plant sites and low quality industrial land.
